TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN.

In my opinion, the three pieces in this collection represents a typical display, found throughout southern Indo-China usually mounted on gabled rooftops of Temple complexes and are authentic.

Age is estimated at bordering on the early Ming period dating back not less then 700 years and probably beyond one thousand years.

The collection is composed of three unsophisticated hollow ceramic or rough porcelain pieces of primitive glazing in keeping with the period.

The set features two carp in floral design placed either side of a centre piece.

Condition is damaged.

In present condition, considered value is assessed at $550,000

ANNEXURE "A"

The subject matter is of excellent form and design and flows well with good balance.

Predominant colours are cobalt blue and challceny green with white salt glazing in a distinctive aged pattern.

The centre piece features a lotus flower occupying central position above a Ming type vase on either side of which are opposing five claw dragons exquisitely worked into the design. These are surmounted by another lotus flower framed into a pond and surmounted again by a cobalt blue orb.

The carp are 950mm in height with a width of 500mm and a depth of 300mm. The centre piece is 1100mm in height with a width of 630mm and a depth of 150mm. The circumference of the orb is 900mm.

All three pieces boast original holes as a means of joining and mounting them. Twentieth century bolts have been added to facilitate display on low Chinese style cedar tables which are 300mm in height and apparently manufactured locally within the last twenty years.

All three pieces have been subjected to considerable wear and tear on their long march south in seemingly adverse conditions sustaining damage to approximately twenty percent of the total area.

They appear to have been repaired by a non-craftsman during the past twenty years using cement, aggregate and adhesive.

One of the carp had had its lower jaw damaged by the removal, considered deliberate, of two tusks or teeth. Its lip has been repaired. Two lotus flowers are missing. Nine feelers are damaged. Its dorsal fin has been repaired. The tail fin has been repaired at the base and also at the tips with one tip missing.

The second carp is in considerably better condition. It has three feelers or whiskers missing although its two tusks or teeth are intact. Two tips are missing from the fin. It has been repaired with cement and aggregate at the juncture of head and body where the originally constructed two parts were joined.

The centre piece has two petals on the lotus flower missing and two out of four willow fronds damaged. Major repairs to the orb have been crudely affected using cement and aggregate.

An assortment of broken pieces accompany the collection. The current owner feels that any further repairs should be instigated by the acquirer to their own satisfaction.

Current day international laws and national restrictions of the region prohibit any likelihood of procuration of similar items.

Had they been in original condition, their combined value be considered to be in excess of $1,000,000 and in the vicinity of $1,200,000
