About the Fine Prints & Vintage Department at Butterfields
The Fine Prints Department at
Butterfields sells a large range of work in an assortment of mediums,
spanning from Old Master etchings to highly collectable American
Regionalist prints of the 1930’s. Also available at seasonal auctions
are 19th century advertising art to Pop selections of the 1960’s. This
wide variety American, European, and Contemporary prints consistently
attracts a growing numbers of buyers.
World records from previous sales include
Maurits Cornelis Escher: Still Live with Mirror, lithograph printed on
cream wove paper, and signed in pencil, which closed at $23,000; need to
refer to other listing submitted for auction records. I’m not sure a Sam
Francis was on the list.
