We all know how Hollywood-types love their wireless phones. Some of the
new phones are so small they fit in your pocket. Others play music instead of
ringing, or let you pick up your email and surf the web.
That's yesterday's news. Mondera blew these would-be status symbols out of the
water by teaming with Motorola to create a one-of-a-kind diamond edition of its
new digital V. Series wireless phone for Hollywood's big night. Valued at
$50,000, the 10 carat total weight diamond encrusted Motorola V. phone debuted
during CNN's red carpet pre-show just before the Awards.
And if a diamond encrusted wireless phone isn't enough to turn heads, even in
LA, we give up!
So you may have heard of "Diamonds on the Soles of
her Shoes" and "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," but diamonds on
the seams of her pantyhose? Hollywood goes nuts for diamonds during Oscar time,
and there seems to be no limit to the unconventional ways that the precious
gems pop up on the red carpet of the Academy Awards.
Diamond pantyhose, I suppose, are the ultimate luxury for the girl who has
everything, and in this case we're talking about actress Melanie Griffith.
Actually Ms. Griffith had good reason to wear the hose, because in exchange for
the publicity, Hanes Hosiery made a $50,000 donation to the Roar Foundation/Shambala
Preserve, an animal protection organization founded by Ms. Griffith's mother,
actress Tippi Hedren.
Upping the ante in the diamond apparel category, talk show diva Leeza Gibbons
wore a $100,000 diamond dress by noted fashion designer Pamela Dennis during
the live broadcast. The dress is constructed in "flesh tone matte
jersey," with 40 rows of diamonds set in platinum and draped down the
bodice of the gown. While Ms Gibbons was unavailable for comment, one can only
assume she places the utmost trust and confidence in her dry cleaner.
